On April 26, 2008, the Gamma Mu chapter at Michigan State University hosted the Second Annual “Do It For Dave” Charity Golf Outing. This year’s event benefited two charities: The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the James F. Rainey Scholarship Fund.
This year’s outing was held corresponding with Parents’ Day. Our goal was to bring together Alumni, National Brothers, Gamma Mu Brothers, and Parents in raising funds and awareness for foster care and adoption. This year’s event brought together 38 golfers, of which include numerous alumni, and brothers from the Zeta Xi chapter. Through all our efforts, $1,164 was raised to be split between the two charities.
Created by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas, DTFA is a non-profit public charity dedicated to dramatically increasing the adoptions of the more than 140,000 children in North America’s foster care systems that are ready and waiting to be adopted. The Foundation uses donations and funds to continue strengthening and building their signature national programs, including Wendy’s Wonderful Kids and Adoption Friendly Workplace. As the only foundation dedicated exclusively to foster care adoption, they are driven by Dave’s simple value: Do what’s best for the child.
