When you contribute to the Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation, you're helping our talented young members realize their potential through funding programs such as The Academy and numerous scholarship opportunites.
The Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation is a public 501(c)(3) charitable educational foundation. With this designation, contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Cash Most of the gifts made to the Foundation are in the form of cash through a check written by the donor.
Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Making contributions by using a credit card has become a very popular method of contribution. These gifts are considered the same as a cash gift for tax purposes.
Securities Gifts of stocks or other securities offer a two-fold tax savings. First, the donor avoids paying any tax on the increase in value of the stock since its purchase. Second, the donor receives a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift.
Bequests Making a provision for Alpha Kappa Psi in your will or trust is a simple process and can be done at the time of its creation or as an addition to an existing document. It will also qualify you as a member of the Clifford Spangler Society, a special donor recognition club. The Clifford Spangler Society recognizes members and friends who have made planned gifts to the AKPsi Foundation.
Gifts-in-Kind Gifts-in-kind (art objects, equipment, real estate, etc.) are welcomed by the Foundation. However, it is necessary to review such gifts before hand to ensure that acceptance will not involve financial commitments or other obligations disproportional to the usefulness of the gift itself. In most instances, gifts-in-kind will be accepted only if they can be liquidated and the value added to the Foundation's asset base.
Funding a scholarship endowment Through an endowment, a gift is invested and only its interest income is used to support the scholarship. The principal is never expended so the fund and the resulting scholarships remain in perpetuity. The donor may name the endowment and fund it with an outright gift of cash, appreciated securities or through a bequest in the donor's will. To successfully endow a scholarship, the Foundation suggests a gift valued at a minimum of $10,000.This level may be met either in a single gift or in smaller amounts over a designated period of time.
Matching Gifts Want to double your gift to the Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation? Many employers (companies/corporations/foundations) have established plans that provide incentives for their employees to make gifts to not-for-profits. If you are employed by an organization listed below, inquire how you can take advantage of its matching gift program, thereby boosting your personal donation substantially, often doubling or even tripling your gift! If you don't see your company listed here, we recommend that you check with your employer to determine if a matching program exists. The Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization and may be an eligible recipient.
