Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation
The Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation was established in 1951 as a public, charitable and educational foundation. Its mission is "Providing resources for enhancing the educational experience of future business leaders." Currently, the foundation distributes more than 30 grants and scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students. It also supports educational programs that develop leadership and professional development skills. The foundation also publishes The Diary of Alpha Kappa Psi.

A nine-member volunteer board of directors guides the foundation. The foundation's COO, Jess LaNore, is the administrative officer based at the Heritage Center in Indianapolis.

World-class fraternities share several common traits: extraordinary alumni, inquisitive and talented students, a constant striving to build upon and expand historical strengths, the vision to anticipate the future, and the resources to provide the financial support to make all these things possible.

The goals for the Foundation are:

  • To enrich the experience of undergraduates by providing world-class professional and leadership development opportunities;
  • To emphasize the value of education, ethics, and community leadership in order to understand and deal with an increasingly complex world;
  • To increase the foundation’s capabilities in providing need- and merit-based scholarship opportunities; and
  • To fully utilize the resources offered by Corporate America and other foundations for education.

For more than a century, AKPsi has nurtured excellence in many ways. In the classroom, the community, and throughout Corporate America, Alpha Kappa Psi students and alumni have shared a commitment to reach the highest levels of achievement and to make a difference in the lives of those around us.

Financial support to the Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation pays measurable academic and societal dividends. At each step in the Fraternity’s history we have sharpened our academic prowess and broadened our reach. Today, through the Foundation’s scholarship and educational programs, we build on our proud heritage and are devoted to an ever-brighter future.

Academy

This first-rate, all-expenses-paid leadership development conference is among the finest learning opportunities available to college students. Completely funded by the Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation, the Academy is based on the contemporary concepts contained in the business best seller The Leadership Challenge. The Academy focuses on the practices and commitments of exemplary leaders and what constituents expect from them. An enrollment cap of 20 participants and a remote location ensure that the experience will be highly personal. Interactive group sessions are complemented by small group discussions led by facilitators and successful business leaders.

Case Competition

Through the Case Competition, students are introduced to the realities of decision making. The challenges of incomplete information, time constraints and conflicting goals gives them first-hand experience in analyzing business situations. It is designed to stimulate students' thinking, challenge their capabilities, and prepare them for future managerial positions. Each year, many as five winning teams receive scholarships from the Foundation.

Academic Team

Seeking to identify top scholars, the Foundation’s All-AKPsi Academic Team recognizes those students who maintain excellence in academic standing while making positive contributions to their campus and community. The selection process measures an applicant’s ability to balance the pursuit of a degree with the development of leadership skills, interactive extracurricular participation, and of a sense of social responsibility which are all necessary attributes for successful growth in one’s life and career. From among the successful applicants, two or more outstanding individuals are selected as the Top Scholar Award recipients and are recognized with educational grants.

Scholarships

The Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation manages several scholarship endowments. Established by organizations and individuals, the interest income from these endowments is used to support annual scholarships. Some scholarships are available to all AKPsi students, while others focus specifically on those majoring in specific fields, such as accounting or healthcare management.
