Certified Fraternity Volunteer
Want to take your volunteering to the next level?  Consider becoming a certified fraternity volunteer (CFV).

A CFV is an Alpha Kappa Psi volunteer that has successfully mastered the topics around good volunteer resource management and has passed the certification test.

The purpose of the CFV program is to:
  • Elevate volunteer principles;
  • Enhance volunteer development and performance,
    • To better assist members, chapters and the fraternity,
    • To assist with personal and professional development of volunteers;
  • Indentify those who possess the essential knowledge of Alpha Kappa Psi's operations, ideals and values.

What benefits are associated with a "Certified" designation?

A certified fraternity volunteer receives the following benefits:

  • A special "Certified Fraternity Volunteer" ribbon at PBLI and the Convention;
  • Online recognition on the Certified Fraternity Volunteer page;
  • Recognition in Principled Business Leadership Institute and Convention printed programs;
  • Yearly recognition in The Diary of Alpha Kappa Psi;
  • Notification will be sent to the chapter you advise (or your fellow RMT members) and the regional director; and
  • A recognition item for your personal display.

This certification may also assist you at your place of employment.  Volunteers that pass the CFV exam may select the option to have a letter sent to his or her place of employment informing the employer of this certification.  Your employer may see this as an illustration of your desire for further training and learning.  It will also demonstrate to your employer that you value giving of your time and resources to a volunteer organization.

If you aspire to hold another volunteer in the fraternity (such as regional director, foundation or fraternity board member, fraternity officer) you may find this training beneficial to your future volunteer plans.

What does the CFV exam cover?

The following topics will be covered on the CFV exam.  In order to be prepared for the CFV exam volunteers are encouraged to read and review the resources under each topic.  The CFV exam will be an online multiple choice, true/false and multiple answer exam.

Applications will be processed upon receipt.  You will receive email notification when you are registered to take the CFV exam.  Instructions for taking the CFV exam will be included in the email. If you pass the CFV exam you will receive written notification; certification will be good from the time it is granted plus two full fiscal years following – your expiration date will be indicated in the notification.  At the conclusion of the second full fiscal year recertification will be required.  The certified fraternity volunteer recertification application must be submitted within six months after the expiration date.  Failure to renew certification within six months will require completion of the certified fraternity volunteer application and exam again.
