Distinguished Service Award
The Alpha Kappa Psi Distinguished Award (DSA) is the most prestigious award conferred upon our brothers.To be recognized with a DSA, the member must performed praiseworthy service to the chapter, region or fraternity and be in good standing.There are three degrees of the Distinguished Service Award:
The DSA-Bronze degree is conferred for exemplary services rendered as a student member.Presentation must be made no later than one year after graduation.There must be at least one year between presentation of the first and second degrees.
The DSA-Silver degree is conferred for exemplary service as an alumnus, faculty or honorary member.This award may be conferred upon a member on more than one occasion.The second degree cannot be presented prior to five years after the first presentation and the third degree cannot be presented prior to eight years after the second presentation.
The DSA-Gold degree is the highest honor in the fraternity.It is conferred upon a member for meritorious service to the fraternity and is only conferred by the Fraternity Board of Directors (90% affirmation vote).The gold degree should not be presented until the individual has received all three silver degrees and should not be presented prior to ten years after the presentation of the third degree silver.
Chapters are limited to presenting two (2) DSA-Bronze and two (2) DSA-Silver awards within each fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).
Award
A special certificate and official Fraternity jewelry will coordinate with the degree of award.The emblem is a miniature likeness of the Coat of Arms.
Recipient Determination
For the BRONZE and SILVER awards, a potential recipient has to be nominated by the chapter and the nomination must have the approval of the chapter advisor and regional director.In the case of a second or third presentation of these awards approval must also be obtained from the fraternity president.
For the GOLD award, the nomination is made to the Fraternity Board of Directors.The award requires a minimum approval of 90 percent of the Board.Any member may nominate a candidate for this honor.

Alpha, Kappa and Psi Awards
The Alpha, Kappa, and Psi awards are designed to recognize student members for their excellence in different areas of chapter operations (Alpha is for outstanding chapter officers, Kappa is for excellence in recruitment and Psi is excellence in professionalism).These individuals exemplify the ideals of Alpha Kappa Psi.
To recognize chapter officers for outstanding leadership within the Chapter.Chapter officers shall be defined as any President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, or Master of Rituals in good standing.
To recognize and award collegiate members for outstanding efforts in the area of recruitment and/or membership development.
To recognize and award collegiate members for outstanding contribution in enhancing professional development.
The Brother of the Year Award is given to a student member who exemplifies the definition of "true blue.”This brother is the all-around AKPsi member, the one who is at every event the chapter hosts; they never miss a PBLI or Convention and are the definition of a good brother.They are the example for not only their chapter but the entire fraternity.
The Member of the Year is awarded to the Alpha Kappa Psi brother who is not only involved with AKPsi but other organizations on campus and in the community.This brother truly knows the meaning of time management and knows how to impact many organizations at one time.This brother gives equally of their time to all that they are involved in.
Helping Hand Award Apply Online
The Helping Hand Award is given to the brother who leads by example in the area of service to others.This person recognizes the selflessness of giving ones time to benefit others.This brother is an inspiration to those in Alpha Kappa Psi and the community.
Innovator of the Year Apply Online
The Innovator of the Year is awarded to the brother who is the "mover and shaker” of the fraternity.This brother is cultivating new ideas and traditions for the chapter to improve the experience for all brothers.
