Alpha Kappa Psi recognizes the fraternity advisor as one of the primary vehicles for training chapter officers and maintaining sound chapters within the fraternity. The most important first step is to provide the proper training to the advisor through the Fraternity Advisor’s Conference. This three-day conference is for faculty and chapter advisors who want to go further than the basics of advising and want to gain education on the "bigger picture” of working with successful chapters, maintaining a healthy CAB, and be the best resource to the fraternity and the chapter.
An opportunity for active fraternity advisors to share ideas, explore issues and current challenges of advising collegiate chapters, gain strategies to better relate to today’s college student
An integrated curriculum in which diverse teaching techniques will meet the needs and styles of all participants
An interactive experience in which each participant is not only a learner but also a teacher
The FAC is designed to be a high-level experience that teaches advisors not only how to effectively advise their students, but why students respond to certain tactics and why the advising role is essential—when done correctly—to the positive AKPsi experience. This weekend is not mimicked or reproduced in an eLearning or in a manual.
The FAC focuses on the concepts, skills, and values which advisors need to be effective in their roles as chapter and fraternity leaders. The program centers primarily on the individual role and the larger organization. Interactive large group sessions are complemented by small group discussions led by Alpha Kappa Psi alumni and leaders in the field of advising and fraternity.
